#06 / FRANÇOIS OZON: THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

“I have found my means of communication with cinema, I express myself better in films than in words.”

mono.kultur #06 / April & May 2006
English / 15 x 20 cm / 20 Pages & Poster / Printed on Two Different Stocks of Paper
mono.kultur #06 is dedicated to the multi-facetted wunderkind of French cinema, François Ozon. With films as diverse as ‘8 Women’, ‘Swimming Pool’ or ‘5x2’ to his name, Ozon can hardly be pinned down to a style or genre, but gained critical acclaim for his thematic diversity and cinematic courage. Rising at a young age to the top of French cinema, Ozon succeeded also internationally with films that are far from the usual mainstream fare, bursting with curious humour, subtle references and a certain savoir de vivre.

With mono.kultur, François Ozon talked about his intuitive approach to film making, his admiration for Fassbinder and why love is hard work.

The issue contains a pretty fold-out mono.poster #03 with the glorious Ludivine Sagnier as a battered Venus.
